We can customize an island to any size, shape or color AND with or without storage. If you don't have an island in your space already, we highly recommend that you place painter's blue tape on the floor to be sure you order the right size (not too small and not too big). We always like to say "measure twice and build once".
Our islands are heavy duty and won't buckle under the pressure of daily kitchen use. We use top quality Premium Maple Boos Butcher Block for our tops. Hard Rock Maple is the wood of choice. Great for chopping and is food safe! Easy cleanup. Easy maintenance and conditioning, too with Boos own mineral oil brand or any food safe mineral oil.
You can also choose from a wide variety of island posts. Go to Island Posts to check out the different styles! Turned island posts will add at least $200+ to the cost of your island.
The picture says it all ... well, almost.
Great contrast between the Jet Black Island base and the Maple Boos Butcher Block top!
Dimensions: 36" high x 25" wide x 36" long
Color: Jet Black
This is an Island with Storage - Plain & Simple. The customer desperately needed storage in their kitchen and a work surface in the center. So, without any overhang for counter stools, we simply made a base to fit the butcher block. Just, Plain & Simple.
Price: $749 (does not include butcher block top provided by customer)
Dimensions: 36" high x 25" deep x 42" wide
Color: Stove Pipe
Beadboard runs across the back to coordinate with the beadboard doors on the front.
The storage space inside this piece is huge due to the extra depth of the cabinet. Looks can be deceiving and that's the case w/ this island - it's much bigger and heavier than it appears! Remember, always measure twice so it can be built once!!
Customer had a very sentimental barn door. Customer wanted an island. Customer needed storage. Combined the two ... and look what happened!
If you look closely, you can see where notches were carved out so the barn door would "rest" on the base. This saved the integrity of the beautiful antique door.
These pieces can function separately.
The Jelly Cupboard nestled below the Island can stand alone as a totally separate piece.
We suggested this design to the customer which allows them (or their future generations) to decide how they want to use the pieces. Together they serve as a work area with storage on one side and seating on the other (using standard counter top stools). Separate the island works as a gathering table which will seat at least 8 all the way around.
