Choose Smooth or Aged. Stained or Painted. Our Stained Tops are finished with our fabulous ML Campbell Lacquer. WooHoo ... ove this stuff! No shiny poly here - yuck. Our tops have a smooth, natural and inviting feel. When you see it ... you just have to touch it and rub your hand across it ... and that's OK, of course.
Our most popular Stain color is Provincial. Probably 99% of what we do is Provincial. It's a great color that blends with all different kinds and shades of wood. But, you have your choice, as always. To choose your stain color, if you are unsure (and I can always give suggestions), go to Lowes or Home Depot and look at Minwax Stain on PINE. They usually have brochures or a display. |
Smooth TopsThis means the top has a smooth, satin-y feeling. The knots still show and you can feel the grain of the "real" wood and any imperfections that nature placed there! It does not imply that we have "un-smooth" tops.
Notice that on our Smooth Tops the edges and corners are "clean and crisp" as opposed to the "worn down" look of the Aged Tops (which you will see below). |
Provincial Stain
Pretty golden tones. The natural grain and beauty of the wood shows through. "This is our PROVINCIAL stain color on each of these Media Consoles. Our most popular stain since it will blend well with other varieties of wood that you may have in your home. Looks good on light or dark bases." |
Aged TopsThis means that we have added "more character" to the wood with chains, hammers, awls and anything else that comes to mind!
We add dents, dings and cracks etc. And, the edges are more rounded and smoothed down to give the top more of a time-worn look. Lots of character and warmth. The aging is more visible on the lighter stains (such as Provincial or Early American). |
"OMG. We LOVE LOVE LOVE our Aged Tops. And these two are such beautiful examples of the richness of our Provincial Stain. Provincial Stain
on all of these lovelies! |
